Makar Sankranti greetings
ITANAGAR, Jan 13: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma has conveyed festival greetings to people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. He has also extended warm greetings to all the devotees and pilgrims visiting the State during the festival season and prayed for safe and secure holy dip at Parasuram Kund.
The Governor wished that the arrangement provided by the State Government, district administration and organizers would ensure all comfort and convenience for the pilgrims. In his festival message, the Governor also said that the festivity of Makar Sankranti coincides with Magh Bihu and Pongal on the next day. On behalf of people of Arunachal Pradesh, he conveyed their good wishes to the people of Assam and Kerala. May these festivals bind each one of us in fraternal love and affection, the Governor wished.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has also conveyed his greetings to people on eve of the festivals of Makar Sankranti, Bhogali Bihu, Lohri and Pongal.
“Arunachal Pradesh is a miniscule India, where people from all parts of India and religious faith reside together with bonhomie. As this festival is celebrated across India under various names, I wish all and look up to a joyous celebration of thanksgiving and invoking the inner glow,” he said.
In a festival message, Tuki prayed the Supreme Being to bless Arunachal Pradesh and its people peace, prosperity and happiness in the days to come.
May the festivals mark the commencement of an era of abundance, prosperity and new opportunities," he added.
Contractors appeal for releasing payments
ITANAGAR, Jan 13: The All Arunachal Contractors’ Welfare Association (AACWA) in a memorandum has urged the Chief Minister to clear all pending bills of PMGSY contractors.
Drawing attention of the Chief Minister that payments to the PMGSY contractors have
not been made against their all pending bill since last couple of years causing untold
miseries to them, AACWA appealed to the Chief Minister to clear the funds for payment
of pending bills of local contractors of PMGSY schemes within 15 days. The memorandum
further urged te Chief Minister to prepare Annual Operation Plan (AOP) for the financial
year 2014-
Any failure to fulfill the demands, including few demands made earlier, will compel the association to launch democratic movement, threatened the AACWA memorandum.
Proposed Lower Siang bandh called off until Jan 26
ITANAGAR, Jan 13: Lower Siang Elite Forum, in a release informed that the indefinite Lower Siang bandh proposed from January 16 has been called off until January 26.
The decision was taken after a meeting between the delegates of Likabali and Nari Koyu constituencies led by Parliamentary Secretary (Transport) Jomde Kena and the Chief Minister on December 15 wherein it was informed that a decision on district headquarter issue would be arrived as soon as the Committee appointed by the State Government on Lower Siang submits its report.
The people of the two constituencies have been demanding to make Likabali as the temporary and Siki Rima as the permanent headquarters of Lower Siang.
KVK training on kiwi preservation, jam making
ITANAGAR, Jan 13: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tawang organized training for farmers on preservation of Kiwi and making jam from the fruits at Kitpi today.
The programme coordinator of the KVK and subject matter specialist in horticulture trained the participants practically on preparation of jam from Kiwi and how to preserve the fruit from spoiling.
The resource persons from the KVK cleared doubts of farmers relating to fruit and vegetable preservation.
Altogether 28 farmers attended the training programme including the horticulture field assistant, according to a KVK release.

Addressing the valedictory function, Parliamentary secretary, Education, Bamang Felix advised the students to expose their hidden talent in right way and stand firm in their resolve to achieve the goal in life. He also lauded the students of Changlang for making the district overall champion in various competitions.
Education secretary R K Mishra in his address urged upon the students to strive hard to achieve success in various competitions in life. He also exhorted the students to maintain health and hygiene.

AIRGVMI state unit mourned death of founder president
ITANAGAR, Jan 13:All India Rajeev Gandhi Vichar Manch International (AIRGVMI), Arunachal Pradesh Unit today deeply mourned the untimely demise of B S Kumari, founder National President of AIRGVMI, who breathed her last after prolonged illness at New Delhi yesterday.
Late Kumari was daughter of C K Rao, former Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh. She was grand daughter of former Prime Minister P V Narsimha Rao.
Late Kumari was a strong lady who sacrificed her life for the welfare of the people. Her demise was a great loss of the country, said AIRGVMI, state unit vice president Haryom Bam in a condolence meeting today. The members observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

However, if they remain insensitive towards indigenous people, it would be naive of them to expect support from the local people. Already, people look at railway service with suspicion as large sections of Arunachalee society believes that train service has been started in order to end the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system. It was due to this belief and also the fear of large scale illegal migration to the state which had caused massive sentiment against train service.
Hundreds join rally, resignation demand grows louder

ITANAGAR, Jan 13: The demand for resignation of APPSC Chairman Dr. Ligu Tacho and Member Mamang Dai grew louder as the hundreds of supporters joined the protest rally organized by Consultative Community (CC) today. The supporters joined the protesting aspirants in the procession holding placards, posters and banners.
The procession was led by Dr. Nani Bath, Biru Nasi, Patey Tayum and Mepe Ete, the volunteers who are on fast unto death, along with senior Journalist Bengia Agung, BJP state unit media cell in charge Jarpum Gamlin. It started from the Tennis Court IG Park up to the Commission office where they gathered and raised slogans against the Commission demanding immediate fulfillment of their demands. The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) has also joined the procession led by its Chairman Kamen Ringu.
Sticking to its earlier demands like resignation of Chairman and the Member on moral ground, Presidential reference on the issue, copy of magisterial inquiry report, the Consultative Committee today made fresh demands including forming of Reform Committee headed by a retired IAS officer and relaxation of age limits by two years. The APPSC secretary Ashok Kumar received the representation from the Consultative Committee; however no concrete assurance was given to the aspirants.
Meanwhile, Research Scholars from Rajiv Gandhi University Rono Hills under the aegis of RGU Research Scholar Forum has extended its solidarity with the Consultative Committee and the volunteers who are on indefinite hunger strike. Research scholars Tayuk Sonam, Taba Biroy, Techi Sissal and Man Norbu have declared 24 hunger strikes and joined with the ongoing team.
The standoff between the agitating aspirants appears to be brewing more, as the government issued fresh statement wherein APPSC secretary Ashok Kumar informed that the examination of all the papers of APPSCCE (Main) would be conducted from March 14 2015. The fresh statement is firmer than earlier statement as it deleted the word, ‘tentatively’.

Health and family Welfare Minister, Rajesh Tacho, while addressing senior officers of health department said it is the responsibility of every citizen of the state to lift the state to the higher level of development. Our doctors should also give their share of role in making the state more prosperous and lively with their knowledge and service to the people as every officers work counts in the overall development of the state.
Showering praise on the officers of the department for their dedicated service to the people of the state, he invited them to cooperate and support all the schemes including Arunachal Pradesh Universal Health Insurance Scheme, a dream scheme of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki so that health facilities are delivered at the door steps of the people.
Speaking on supply of spurious and expired medicines to hospitals, he advised all the DMOs and other officers to properly check the quality and expiry date of the medicines supplied in their offices so that poor patients do not suffer after consuming it.

Funds for implementation of all schemes shall be routed through the treasury, making it more time taking. Director, Health Services, Dr. Kartik Nishing, while presenting the state health vision document 2030 giving a brief highlight of the document, termed it as an exhaustive state health vision document covering all aspects of health issues for Arunachal Pradesh. It reflected the present status of health scenario of the state and made an attempt to set a target for 2030 based on the assessments of the present health scenario. It can also be used as data base for the department for all purposes including diseases, manpower, and infrastructures set up etc, he added.
Nodal Officer, APCHUHIS, Dr. Pritam, informed that out of 46 hospitals including 15 state hospitals empanelled with state Govt. under APCUHIS, 19 hospitals are active, while 5 hospitals are waiting installation of software. As on Jan 8th 2015 out of 711 claims, 202 have been settled where Rs.17000000 has been disbursed to the claimants, which amounts to success rate of 28 percent. He further informed that revolving fund for all government hospitals has been released except for Khonsa and Longding.

Indian Army organizes blood donation camps
ITANAGAR, Jan 13: The 56 Infantry Division of Indian Army organized a series of blood donation camps at Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur and Rayang (Ruksin) from January 12 and 15 as part of Army Day celebrations with the “Pride of Nation in War and Peace”. Over 275 volunteers donated blood during the camps. The camp at Rayang was organized under the aegis of Siang Brigade and about 145 units of blood were collected which will be shared among the Blood Banks of General Hospital, Pasighat, Arunachal State Hospital, Naharlagun and RK Mission Hospital, Itanagar.
Prior to the start of the blood donation camp, a motivational cum awareness programme was conducted by Arunachal Pradesh State Aids Control Society Deputy Director (Blood Safety cell) Dr. N.Budh highlighting the importance of blood donation. He appealed to the Indian Army to join the Health Department to tide over the scarcity of blood in the Blood Banks of hospitals in the state. He said that the Army can help the health sector in this direction as it has vast reserve of healthy jawans.
The technical support for the camp was extended by APSACS.

It is a right step taken by the government of India as this will help to integrate NE region with mainland India through digital technology. Television is a powerful source to disseminate information. One of the main reasons for racist attitude of mainland Indians towards NE people is due to lack of awareness about rich culture and tradition of the region. The three proposed channel has potential to bridge the gap between rest of India and NE region by showcasing North East to the rest of the India. Icing on the cake is that programmes will be aired in local languages.

Arnab’s silence on Assam massacre

I am a lover of News Headlines specially the 9 Pm Debate by Arnab Goswami. It would not be wrong to say that he is the number one Journalist in India. He is my Hero, I love the way he interrupt the people without fear to make a point. But I don’t know why these days he is very much interested in Sunanda Phuskar Tharoor’s case. I am not saying that her case is not important but why his channels and specially Debate have not captured the recent Assam massacre where more than 70 Adivasis including children and woman were brutally murdered by Bodo militants. Is the life of Late Mrs. Tharoor more important than those Adivasis? We all know the power of Media, we know that a week long Debate on his channel could surely make some huge differences in Assam but as far my knowledge, the issue was discussed only in one episode and at the same time what I see is that the case of Lt. Mrs Tharoor’s has been in debate for days.
I was astonished when I come to know more clearly that he is from Guwahati (Assam). I don’t know whether my words will reach him or not but what I want to say to him is that i want him to speak more boldly on issues of North Eastern states. Being the neighboring state of Assam, we also suffer when such Incidents take place.

APPCS fiasco and re-
Dear Editor,
It is very saddening to witness the series of events happening lately. I am just shocked by the lack of interest shown by the government with regard to the APPCS Mains GS Paper II leakage. It’s been more than three months now but still there’s no sign of proper solution. An Enquiry committee was formed to investigate the matter, the report of which is still kept abeyance adding to the worries of the already aggrieved. The matter has become so much serious that the poor candidates are now into hunger strike! The government appears to be least bothered about this. Is this not their duty to maintain transparency in the recruitment process of the most esteemed public office of the state? Is it not the Govt’s duty to take suo moto action against any of the malpractices happening in public office? Is it not the Govt’s duty to re assure faith in the governance? Bandhs, Dharnas, Protests are none other than a sign of failure on part of the government. It reflects the lack of good governance. Why is the Govt even waiting for the candidates to make such hue and cry? Is it not the Govt’s duty to do justice? Till when it will remain deaf and dumb to this issue?
I sincerely applaud the herculean step of taking 96 hours of hunger strike taken by Ms. Ujum for the cause. Instead of declaring bandh they opted for peaceful way. Ifact, this agitation is first of it’s kind in our state. But however I would like to state something here. With regard to the demand of removal of some of the members of the commission, I totally understand the reason behind it. In fact it is the failure on part of the members of the commission that they could not maintain the dignity and decorum of the institution. And many of the aspirants and others have stated that it is not the first time its happening but time and again this institution under the present commission has ended up with controversies. I don’t have much knowledge about it nor I have any proofs with regard to this, but i request those who have proofs to please come out and pursue legal recourse. I also request the Govt to refer the matter to Hon’ble president or constitute a committee to review the working of the present board since its institution. It’s high time that administrative reform takes place and more transparency is maintained in the institution.
Now what’s bothering us or at least me is the second demand! I don’t know what’s
the reason behind the silence of the remaining 500 aspirants but I would like to
